This site is dedicated to the Boer War, the first modern war of the twentieth century: The war which brought us concentration camps. the first use of aerial reconnaissance, guerilla warfare, and other innovations in the art of war. It was also the War that first showed the cracks in the mighty British Empire, and foreshadowed the end of Empire that would come in a few decades.
The Boer War has now been largely been forgotten and overshadowed by the larger conflicts that followed just a few years later. But its importance should not be underrated, for it was in many ways a rehearsal for World War 1. The BoerWarArchive.com is dedicated to assembling important archival records of the Boer War as well as providing an accessible overview of the war and and the men who fought on both sides of the conflict. We aim to continually add a rich stock of photos, prints and even news reels to supplement the already extensive library of Boer War materials.
